How we use your information

When you book a repair online, we collect only what we need to estimate the job and schedule it.

What we collect

  • Your vehicle's year, make and model (or its VIN, if you give it), and your description of the problem.
  • If you use the microphone button, your browser's own speech service (Apple's or Google's) turns your voice into text; we only receive the text.
  • Your name and mobile number, when you book.
  • The text messages we exchange with you, kept with your file so we can follow up on your vehicle.
  • Photos of your vehicle taken during an inspection, shown to you by a private link so you can approve repairs.
  • A scrambled code made from your internet (IP) address, used only to stop the booking page being flooded with requests. Your address itself is not stored.

Why

  • To estimate how long the repair will take and offer you times that fit.
  • To book your appointment and show it to the technician working on your vehicle.
  • To contact you about your visits: a confirmation, a reminder the day before, a message if your time changes, and replies to your texts.
  • After a visit, occasional texts about your vehicle: one asking for a Google review, a reminder when maintenance is due, or a seasonal offer (like winter tires). These go only to customers of the last two years or who agreed to them, and replying STOP ends them. We don't sell your information.

Who else handles it

We use these service providers. They are located in the United States, so your information is stored and processed outside Quebec and Canada.

  • Anthropic (the Claude AI service) receives your vehicle and problem description to estimate the repair time. It does not receive your name or number.
  • Render hosts this booking site and the database holding your booking.
  • Twilio sends our text messages, so it receives your mobile number and the messages we send you.
  • If you give us your email, Google (Gmail) delivers our emails to you: your confirmation, your invoice and receipt, or a waitlist notice.

How long we keep it

Your booking stays in our records as part of your vehicle's service history. 3 years after the visit, your name, number, description and our text messages are removed automatically; the record of the work stays. You can ask us to delete them sooner.

If we give you an invoice, it keeps your name and vehicle for 7 years, because tax law requires businesses to keep their invoices; then your name is removed from it too.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. Reply STOP to any of our texts to stop receiving them. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the privacy regulator where you live; in Quebec, that's the Commission d'accès à l'information.
